Publishing & Literary Rights
Spencer Daniel Marriott (SDM) welcomes publishing houses, independent publishers, literary agents and editorial organisations interested in British mystery, crime fiction, historical intrigue and narrative true crime. Our published works and developing catalogue of unpublished manuscripts offer opportunities to discover original literary properties for new audiences, from standalone novels and novellas to collections and nonfiction.
Publishing opportunities include traditional contracts, exclusive or non-exclusive publishing licences, territorial and language-specific agreements, editorial collaborations and selected multi-title arrangements. Terms may include advances, royalties, publication commitments and distribution responsibilities. SDM retains ownership of its underlying literary intellectual property, granting specific publishing rights for negotiated formats, territories and durations rather than selling copyrights outright.
Publishers, literary representatives and commissioning editors may explore the manuscript catalogue and submit proposals identifying their areas of interest, intended markets and preferred arrangements. Relevant reading copies and supporting materials may be made available for professional evaluation. SDM considers editorial fit, publishing experience, distribution capabilities and the potential for a lasting commercial relationship.

Film & Television
SDM welcomes film studios, television production companies, independent producers, screenwriters and development executives seeking literary material for adaptation. Our catalogue spans British murder mysteries, historical crime, character-driven fiction and investigative nonfiction, with stories that may suit feature films, limited series, anthology formats and episodic television.
Potential arrangements include time-limited screen options, adaptation licences, development collaborations and creative consultation. Negotiated terms may address option fees, exercise payments, development periods, production milestones, credits and other participation. SDM retains ownership of the underlying literary work while licensing specifically agreed screen rights; unrelated rights are not automatically included.
Producers and development professionals are invited to identify works of interest and outline their intended format, creative approach, development experience and financing plans. Where appropriate, SDM can discuss access to manuscripts, synopses and supporting story materials. Proposals are assessed for creative compatibility, practical feasibility and the potential to bring the original story to screen audiences.

International Licensing
SDM welcomes international publishers, foreign-rights agents, translation specialists and overseas literary organisations interested in introducing British mystery, crime fiction, historical narratives and true crime to readers in new markets. Individual works and selected collections may be considered for international publication, subject to rights availability.
Opportunities include translation licences, foreign-language editions, territory-specific publishing agreements and selected international digital or audiobook arrangements. Agreements can define languages, territories, formats, duration, advances, royalties and publication obligations. Underlying literary ownership remains with SDM, while rights are granted within the scope of each negotiated agreement and any existing commitments.
International partners are invited to specify their target markets, publishing experience, distribution channels and preferred titles or genres. SDM can discuss relevant catalogue information and evaluation materials where available. Proposals are considered on the strength of translation and editorial standards, market access, commercial terms and the potential to build a sustainable international readership.

Media & Promotion
SDM welcomes content creators, book reviewers, journalists, podcast hosts, broadcasters, literary publications, book clubs and digital media organisations interested in British mystery, crime fiction and true crime. Opportunities include author interviews, editorial features, social campaigns, sponsored content, newsletter placements, book discussions and collaborations across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and other relevant platforms.
Commercial arrangements may include affiliate commissions, personalised discount codes, tracked referral links, paid sponsorships, revenue-sharing campaigns, performance incentives, review copies and longer-term ambassador partnerships. Eligible partners may earn an agreed commission on qualifying sales attributed to their promotional activity. Rates, attribution, exclusions, payment schedules and disclosure requirements are negotiated individually; no fixed commission or sponsorship is guaranteed.
Creators and media professionals are invited to describe their platform, audience, engagement, proposed campaign and preferred arrangement. SDM welcomes both established outlets and smaller creators whose audiences closely match its books. Partnerships are assessed for audience relevance, content quality, realistic sales potential and clear measurement, with the aim of rewarding meaningful promotion and readership growth.

Investment & Growth
SDM welcomes exploratory conversations with strategic partners, private investors and commercial organisations interested in the growth of an independent literary and entertainment venture. Built around original storytelling, SDM aims to develop its publishing catalogue, digital channels, audiobooks, international licensing and potential screen adaptations into a sustainable creative business.
Possible arrangements include strategic investment, project financing, publishing expansion, marketing support, joint ventures and other individually negotiated commercial structures. Depending on the proposal, discussions may consider capital requirements, operational contributions, financial participation and governance. Any investment would require due diligence, appropriate legal advice and formal documentation; underlying literary copyrights are not offered for outright sale.
Prospective partners are invited to outline their organisation, relevant experience, investment objectives and proposed contribution. SDM particularly values industry expertise, distribution access and operational capabilities alongside funding. Initial discussions are exploratory and do not constitute an offer of securities, a guarantee of returns or a commitment to accept investment.

Distribution & Commercial
SDM welcomes discussions with bookstores, wholesalers, retail groups, libraries, institutional buyers, online marketplaces and digital platforms interested in making its books more accessible. Our catalogue covers British mystery, crime fiction, historical intrigue and true crime across eligible paperback, ebook and audiobook formats, with selected related merchandise opportunities.
Potential arrangements include wholesale supply, bookstore stocking, bulk orders, library purchasing, digital distribution, audiobook channels, corporate gifting and selected merchandising collaborations. Commercial terms may involve volume pricing, retailer margins, fulfilment responsibilities, territories, marketing support and ongoing supply commitments, depending on product availability and operational capacity.
Retailers, distributors and commercial buyers are invited to outline their organisation, intended markets, purchasing volumes, preferred products and distribution approach. SDM reviews proposals for fulfilment feasibility, commercial sustainability, brand fit and market reach. Availability and terms are confirmed individually rather than assumed for every title or format.
